Maureen and David Boxer are Scottish and Wales students and are currently living next to Norwich (UK). They both work as researchers and are now studying Spanish in La Rioja. They are also traveling around Spain and have done the St.James path by bike.
In the following, we asked Maureen and David Boxer a couple of questions about their experience in La Rioja Spanish School coursing the “Spanish and wine” course, which they have kindly answered:
Int.: How did you know about La Rioja Spanish School?
Maureen and David Boxer: we knew about La Rioja Spanish School on the internet back in England, and we chose this school because we visited Logroño 2 years ago. We were looking for a school where we could have Spanish clases for one week and they helped us.
Int.: What do you think about the teachers and the classes at this school?
Maureen y David Boxer: teachers at this school are really good. In the beginning it was a little hard to understand the accent, but after the first class that wasn’t a problem anymore. We really like that we have the possibility to speak with the teachers at any moment, they are really flexible.
The classes have been very good because we have had the opportunity to ask and answer the teachers at any time. Now, we can read texts in Spanish and we can understand them. We also had the opportunity to listen to a lot of Spanish which is really good for the listening comprehension. The teachers love talking about their region, their culture and they have demonstrate that during the entire course.

Int.: Tell us, how is your daily life like in La Rioja?
Maureen y David Boxer: In the mornings we go to the school for our Spanish classes. We eat and in the evenings we go for a walk around the city, there are a lot of parks and squares. At nightfall, we do some activities related with wine culture.

Int.: What do you think about Logroño and La Rioja? Do you consider it a good place for living?
Maureen y David Boxer: It is a really good city to visit, because it is not too big. People are really nice and the city has a lot of stores in which you can buy almost anything.
Int.: During your time here, have you visited any near by villages or cities?
Maureen y David Boxer: Yes, we have biked at the green via of Cidacos from Calahorra to Arnedillo, spending the night in Arnedo, then we continued to Arnedillo and we could had a swim in the thermal pools. We also visitedElciego (Alava) and Torrecilla de Cameros.
Ent.: Would you recommend this experience to other people that are interested in learning Spanish in Spain?
Maureen y David Boxer: Yes, we would recommend it. Because we have had a lot of time to speak with the teachers of the school, and also to learn many things related with the culture of this region, and about wine culture as well. We feel like you have many opportunities to listen and to speak in and out the classes, so you can really practice your Spanish.
